aving first been established
in 1903, Aston Manor
CC currently competes
in Division 3 of the
Birmingham League. We caught up with
their Chairman Keith Forman to find out
more about the good work that they have
been doing lately.
Involvement
He told us, “I first played for Aston
Manor in 1974. I had stopped playing after
I left School in 1972. One Friday afternoon
at work a colleague was desperately

phoning around for an 11th player for
the weekend. I still had kit somewhere at
home, said I would play, got a few runs
and have been involved with the club ever
since!
The biggest challenge of the role is
dealing with people whose only interest
is themselves rather than the overall Club.
It is rewarding seeing the club teams gel
together after the hard work of putting a
squad together over the winter months.
To see youngsters develop, not only
as cricketers but also as dedicated club
personnel is fantastic.”
This Season
“The mood here is very positive. We
have a good age mix throughout our
teams, who all socialise well with each
other. Overall it was a good season for us
this year but there are obviously areas we
need to improve on to reach our goals.
Following
the
introduction
of
the ‘Pyramid System’ the 1st XI won
promotion to the Birmingham League in
2004. We gained two further promotions,
but were ultimately relegated back to
the Warwickshire League in 2013. We
gained immediate promotion back to the
