Moseley Golf Club Moseley Golf Club M oseley Golf Club was first established in 1892 and is situated on Springfield Road, Kings Heath in Birmingham. It is a superb parkland course designed by Harry Colt in the 1920s. Colt was a major golf architect at the time who is also responsible for Royal Lytham, Muirfield and Royal Portrush. The course provides a fair test for golfers of all abilities and is maintained to a superb standard throughout the year. It is set amongst trees and shrubs with crossing streams, a lake and pond and is famous for having fast, undulating greens. In total it is 6292 yards in length and the nature of the greens make it imperative to be precise with second shots if a golfer is to score well. The fairways are tight, meaning that anyone looking to drive long needs to be precise. The course is surrounded by mature trees, ensuring there is little sign of the city beyond, and provides a fine setting for a round of golf. The outward nine holes are a fine test for any golfer and include the courses two signature holes at the par 3 fourth and the par 4 fifth. The fourth is a demanding iron shot through trees to reach the green whilst the fifth is a dogleg with a drive over the lake. The back 9 is a little less demanding with a number of opportunities for birdie. However the thirteenth and sixteenth both have the potential to take away from an otherwise fine round. On completion of a round at Moseley there is the opportunity to enjoy their traditional clubhouse which provides first class catering from real ales to fine wines, snacks and light meals to 3-course dinners as well as offering rooms to hire for social and business occasions. It is the perfect place to discuss your round and always offers a warm, welcoming atmosphere. This is vital for the club as it has the potential to provide them with a valuable source of additional revenue all year round. This is particularly important in the current financial climate. There is much to admire about the fine set up that Moseley Golf Club currently has in place and this is thanks to all of the hard work that goes into making it a success. Hopefully they will be able to continue in the same manner for many years to come and everyone at Sport in Profile Magazine wishes them the best of luck for 2016.
