ased at the XLCR Stadium, Holt House on Harrison Drive, Colne FC
currently competes in the Premier Division of the North West Counties
Football League. They are led by the team of President Lee Duerden
and Chairman Shaun O’Neill and the club has made a considerable
amount of progress under their guidance.
This season their first team has made
a fine start to their league campaign,
putting together a record of ten wins,
two draws and one defeat from their
thirteen matches. This sees them sitting
top of the league with thirty-two points
on the board.
This should provide them with the
perfect platform from which to go on
and put together a successful campaign.
So long as they are able to keep their
players injury free they should be
putting a serious title challenge together
this year and there is a confidence in
their squad that they will be able to do
so.
One of the highlights of the team’s
performances has been the attacking
brand of football that they have been
able to produce. This has been reflected
by the fact that they have already scored
42 goals in the league alone at a rate of
more than three per game.
This will certainly have meant that any
supporters attending their matches will
have been well entertained and should
encourage more of the local community
to get behind the side in the future.
Daniel Boyle in particular has been in
fantastic goalscoring form, scoring 12
times to lead the leagues scoring charts.
Colne is not a club to focus solely upon
their senior section however and this is
reflected by the fact that they also have
a number of youth sides in place. These
teams look to provide youngsters from
the local area with an opportunity to
play the game in a safe and enjoyable
environment whilst helping them to
reach their full potential.
It is important for any club looking to
be successful over a sustained period
to be able to produce their own talent,
particularly in the current financial
climate. It will certainly be exciting to
see how their juniors progress in the
coming years.
The success Colne FC is currently
experiencing at first team level is a
reflection of all of the hard work that is
being put into the club. Sport in Profile
Magazine wishes them the best of luck
for the rest of the season.
