Colne B colne fc fc ased at the XLCR Stadium, Holt House on Harrison Drive, Colne FC currently competes in the Premier Division of the North West Counties Football League. They are led by the team of President Lee Duerden and Chairman Shaun O’Neill and the club has made a considerable amount of progress under their guidance. This season their first team has made a fine start to their league campaign, putting together a record of ten wins, two draws and one defeat from their thirteen matches. This sees them sitting top of the league with thirty-two points on the board. This should provide them with the perfect platform from which to go on and put together a successful campaign. So long as they are able to keep their players injury free they should be putting a serious title challenge together this year and there is a confidence in their squad that they will be able to do so. One of the highlights of the team’s performances has been the attacking brand of football that they have been able to produce. This has been reflected by the fact that they have already scored 42 goals in the league alone at a rate of more than three per game. This will certainly have meant that any supporters attending their matches will have been well entertained and should encourage more of the local community to get behind the side in the future. Daniel Boyle in particular has been in fantastic goalscoring form, scoring 12 times to lead the leagues scoring charts. Colne is not a club to focus solely upon their senior section however and this is reflected by the fact that they also have a number of youth sides in place. These teams look to provide youngsters from the local area with an opportunity to play the game in a safe and enjoyable environment whilst helping them to reach their full potential. It is important for any club looking to be successful over a sustained period to be able to produce their own talent, particularly in the current financial climate. It will certainly be exciting to see how their juniors progress in the coming years. The success Colne FC is currently experiencing at first team level is a reflection of all of the hard work that is being put into the club.
