With the 11th century castle aloft in the distance, and the monastery ruins running along the
touchline, Lewes Hockey Club has to be one of the most scenic locations in the sport. However with
hot competition from local clubs and a difficult last season, Men’s Club Captain Josh Pewter explains
more about building for the new season ahead.
SiP: How long have you been involved
and what first attracted you to the club?
JP: I first joined Lewes when I was 12
years old, none of my family had ever
played the sport, however when a coach
came into my local secondary school to
teach hockey, I was instantly hooked
and joined my local club. After a brief
spell away at Uni I came back and took

job. I do thoroughly enjoy working on the
overall blue-sky development of Lewes,

to National League and creating more
future stars.

the club at the moment?

clubs and it’s no exception at Lewes.
The men’s sides took a bit of a battering
last season. Our 1st team stayed up by
the skin of our teeth; however we were
unable to save our 2nd and 3rd XI who
were both relegated. It was a bitter blow
at the time, however I’m positive both
sides will bounce back. The ladies fared
much better with a top half finish for
the 1’s that can definitely be built on this
year.
SiP: What are your plans for the rest of
2015?
JP: The ladie’s 1st team and Men’s 2nd
team gaining promotion has to be our
