halifax roller hockey club Challenges/Ambitions “Our biggest challenge is youth development. Or more specifically - youth recruitment. We can’t develop young players if we don’t have any. We have already seen another club in Yorkshire virtually cease to exist because of their lack of youth players. Halifax has been around for nearly 35 years and while the current crop of senior players is very good they simply can’t play forever, so to ensure the club continues we need to recruit new players to the sport. Finance is another big issue. We are fortunate that we have three sponsors for the 2015/16 season but attracting sponsorship to cover the cost of kit, travel and hotels can be a challenge. We are always keen to hear from local or national companies interested in sponsoring the club. At senior level we’d like to become an established Premier League team and to do that I think we need to be in the league for at least three years (this being our second year). While our ambitions at junior level are to grow each age-group squad and eventually bring them through into the senior teams.” www.pitchero.com/clubs/halifaxrollerhockeyclub www.sportip.biz 53
