powfoot golf club FOLLOW US ONLINE TWITTER.COM/SPORT_IP Community “We consider ourselves to be a community club of around 500 locally based members located half way between the larger towns of Dumfries and Carlisle and actively encourage golfers of all backgrounds, age, sex, religion or ability.” Challenges/Ambitions “One of the biggest challenges facing the club over the next 5 years is the aging demographic of membership both at Powfoot and in general. Attracting younger players is a challenge in view of the range of other activities, sporting or otherwise, which are available to them. The club’s ambitions are to maintain and grow, if possible, the membership base by adding value to the membership package, which includes membership of the James Braid Association, where our members are entitled to play at other Braid Association courses for a reduced fee, discounted range ball tokens and discounted rates for members’ guests. We are planning to undertake a full membership survey this winter to identify what our members would like to see happen at Powfoot Golf Club and the results will form the basis of a 5 year plan for the club.” 48 Issue 10
