stockport mxc Stockport MXc S tockport MXC is a long established Armature Motocross Association Club (AMCA) with approximately 50 members in total. They do a fine job of providing people of all ages in their local area with an opportunity to get involved in Motocross and pride themselves on being a supportive and welcoming club. They hold their meetings at the Rising Sun Pub on London Road in Chester from 8.30pm every Tuesday during the riding season which runs from February to November. They are led by Chairman Rooster Forest who is supported by Secretary Dominic Brennan and the club has made a considerable amount of progress under their guidance. Motocross itself is one of the oldest offroad motorcycle sports having originally been referred to as scrambling. Much of its history comes from the UK which was responsible for names such as Triumph, BSA, Matchless and Greeves among others. Stockport MXC are members of the AMCA who were responsible for organising many televised scrambling events which attracted huge interest in the sport in the sixties and seventies. It continued to grow during the eighties and nineties and was able to provide as many as 20 groups or centres at one point. In the past thirty years the AMCA has had more than 30,000 licence holders which they are justifiably proud of. They also played a key part in the development of several future world champions including Dave Thorpe. Stockport MXC would be the ideal place to start for anyone interested in getting involved in MotoX whether you are a total beginner or an existing rider. They take on members as young as nine years old and ride each weekend against other North Midlands and North West clubs at tracks from North Wales to Cumbria. Anyone looking to find out more can do so by visiting their website or by turning up at their Tuesday meetings. Chairman Rooster Forest has plenty of experience and will be all too happy to provide advice on any queries relating to how to get into motoX, bikes or gear. The annual membership for riding members is £70.00 for new members and £60.00 for returning ones with a £20.00 reduction for second family members. They hold regular practice days with their home motocross track being Coppull near Charnock Richard, Lancashire. There is much to admire about the fine work that Stockport MXC has been doing in recent times and hopefully they will be able to continue in the same manner for many years to come. NFORE201W5 !
