Community involvement
forms an important part of the
club. There has been a very
active Primary Schools
Programme through which
we have introduced more
than 3,500 boys and
girls to hockey. The
programme
involves
coaches visiting schools
and Ramblers hosting
two
tournaments
each year across the
age ranges which last
saw 32 teams from 18
schools take part earlier
in 2015. At the other end
of the scale the Old People
Active Lives group uses
our clubhouse every week for
their get-togethers. We have also
hosted the local village summer fair
and in July we ran HockeyFest which
raised over £1,500 for Cancer Research.
We also try to be active in the broader hockey
community. We hosted a preliminary round of the County
Championships in 2014, the Cheshire Cup Finals in 2015, and
we also hosted the 9th leg of the Hockey for Heroes group

as they completed the 3 Peaks Challenge and
played 33 games of hockey in 10 days
(mad fools!).
Looking forward it is more of
the same! For next season we
have the unusual prospect
of some of our former
players returning to the
area after university and
with a couple of other
experienced
players
joining after moving
to Cheshire we are
looking forward to
the new season.
