eeside Ramblers have a simple vision which is ‘hockey for all’ and have put in place the structures and facilities
to support players and officials whether they seek to enjoy hockey at participation, development, or performance
levels.
Sitting in the middle of rural Cheshire,
with a unique view of two castles,
Ramblers are a thriving ClubsFirst
accredited club with over 560 members,
an increase of 17% over the last two
years, and embracing a diversity of
backgrounds. Playing membership is 500
with half of them under 18. The club runs
7 men’s and 3 Ladies’ league teams and
a number of junior teams across all agegroups from under 10s to under 18s.
There were lots of positive performances
in the 2014/15 season with the men’s 1s
maintaining their position in the North
Conference of the National League, the 2s
and particularly the 3s pushing for promotion
until late in the season, and promotion for the
men’s 4s and 6s in their respective leagues.
This solid progress only partially offset the
disappointment of relegation for the ladies 1s
from the 1st Division of the North Women’s
Hockey League.
However, it was the junior teams that
showed the way – the boys under 16s
made the National Finals of the Boys
Under 16 Championship (for the second
year running), the boys under 10s were
crowned North Champions, the boys
under-12s reached the semi-finals of the
North Finals, the girls under 14s made the
North finals, and the girls under 12s made
the county finals.
The development of the club is built
around 3 key pillars: firstly, provision
of great playing facilities (a replacement
sand-dressed astro was installed 2 years
ago together with a smaller training zone);
coaching throughout the club to provide
all players and officials with development
