orwich City Hockey Club is based at the Taverham Recreation Facility in Taverham. Their men’s first team currently
competes in the East Men’s League Premier B whilst their Women’s first team plays in Division 1N of the Women’s
East League. They are led by the team of President Ali Wardale and Chair Karren Dagless and the club has made a
considerable amount of progress under their guidance.
Over the years they have put together a history of which they
have every right to be proud of having first been established in
1990 following the merger of Norfolk Wanderers and Norwich
Grasshoppers. The aim of the merger was to improve and
promote hockey in the local area.
The club developed further a few years later when they
merged with one of the major ladies clubs in the area, Norwich
Argonauts. The current group of players will be keen to add to
their illustrious past over the coming years.
One of the standout features of the Norwich City set up is the
superb youth section that they have in place. This part of the
club looks to provide young players from the local area with an
opportunity to play the game in a safe and enjoyable environment
whilst helping them to reach their full potential.
It is important for any club looking to be successful over a
sustained period of time to be able to produce their own talent,
particularly in the current financial climate and this is an area
that they appear to have covered. It will certainly be exciting to
see how their juniors can progress ov W"F
