AUTOGRASS CLUB
T
here is plenty going on at Radford Autograss Club with a number of events still to come in the remainder of the

lately.

The Role
“The most rewarding part of my role is when I hear good feedback
from Radford members and visiting clubs saying how much they
have enjoyed racing at our venue. It’s lovely to see drivers and
spectators coming back each meeting to watch and race with us.
The most challenging part would have to be the weather, due to
us racing on a grass track having bad weather makes it hard for
us all.”
2014
“2014 for Radford was an interesting
year; we had to cancel a couple of our
meetings due to our lovely British
weather. On the whole I would say it was
a very successful year, with members all
pulling together well and running some
really good club meetings.”
Atmosphere
“The mood at Radford this year is really
good, the committee and members are
working together really well. We at
Radford listen hard to our members (we
have around 150) so any constructive
criticism is very welcome, we are always
looking at ways to improve the club,
trying to bring the younger members
on, because at the end of the day they
will be the ones running the club in
years to come.

“I have been involved in Radford club since I was born
in 1980. My dad David Fernihough (passed away 3
years ago with a brain tumour) had been racing since
the early 1960’s and was Radford chairman for many
years. He was the reason I got involved. He won the
Men’s national championships twice and too many
open meetings I care to remember, so was a very
successful racer in his time.
I started racing in the juniors when I was 14 in a mini
and then went on when I was 16 to race my dad’s class
10 Chevy. After this time I then raced in ladies class 8
which had a 1300 Suzuki motorbike engine. I sold my car
last year due to a house purchase, but now being in my 2nd
year as Chairperson keeps me very busy indeed. I don’t think
I would have time to race!”
