be involved with and it would be
a challenge to find anyone that
says different. A side that isn’t
well documented is their own
selflessness and care of others.
My young son, Tristan, is a huge
supporter of True Heroes Racing
and acts as ‘team runner’ for them
during race weekends. Murray
Hambro, a double amputee rider
for the team, is a real inspiration
to Tristan so when it was Tristan’s
birthday, the whole team sprang a
little surprise on him.
They called him to the awning for
a ‘job’, however on his arrival the
whole team sang happy birthday
to him and presented him with a
replica Murray Hambro helmet
and a huge birthday cake. Certainly
a birthday to remember and all
courtesy of Phil and the team, even
I had no idea it was happening. The
team really are True Heroes.

SiP: What are your ambitions for True Heroes Racing over the
coming years?
PS: My hope for True Heroes Racing is that we can continue to
grow and offer more opportunities for injured Service personnel
to get involved. I would also dearly love to be able to expand
other aspects of the team to enable us to offer opportunities
outside of the racing where injured Service personnel can get
involved in all aspects of motorsport both on and off the track
and hopefully be able to teach them new skills that could assist
them with new career opportunities outside of the military.
We also have an ambition to take True Heroes Racing to the top
flight of motorcycle racing in the UK by fielding a team in the

Superbike class at the British Superbike Championships, but to
achieve this True Heroes Racing would need to take the next step
towards becoming a full time professional organisation with all
the costs associated with this.
The whole concept of what True Heroes Racing is about and
what it is achieving has really got the public’s attention and
