ased at the Alhallows Playing Field in Devon, Honiton RFC’s first team currently competes in the South West
Division of the Tribute Cornwall/Devon League. They are led by the team of President David Todd and Chairman
Mike Huskins and the club has made a considerable amount of progress under their guidance.
Last season their first team put together a steady
campaign as they compiled a record of eleven wins, one
d raw and fourteen defeats from their 26 league matches.
This saw them finish in a safe mid-table position with 54
points on the board.
Their performances last campaign should provide
them with a solid campaign from which to build as they
look ahead towards 2015/16. As long as they can retain
their current group of players and perhaps make one
or two quality additions they should be in with a good
chance of pushing on up the table.
At the end of the campaign Club Captain Nick Guilbert
stepped down from his role and told the club’s official
website, “I have decided that it is time for me to step
down from the position as it’s time to let someone else
have a go. I’ve been ranting and raving for three years
now, and it’s about time someone shouted at me.
Throughout the last three years I have skippered some
very good Honiton sides, and I have had the luxury of
playing with some phenomenal players. I’ve enjoyed it,
and a big thanks to all those who’ve been supportive of
me over that period. I owe thanks to the supporters, the
committee, coaches and particularly the players.”
Honiton is not a club to focus solely upon their senior
section however and this is reflected by the fact that
they also have a number of youth sides in place. These
teams look to provide youngsters from the local area
with an opportunity to play the game in a safe and
