true heroes Hotdoggers racing Surf Club We have taken our “adapt and overcome” mentality that the military has given us and applied it to this new environment. Couple this with the huge support we have received from the general public, it was the general public that nominated True Heroes Racing for a Sun newspaper Military Award “Millie” in December 2014, where ever we have gone has enabled us to grow and expand year after year since we formed. SiP: What do you believe could be some of the biggest challenges you may face in the next 5 years? PS: The biggest challenges True Heroes Racing will face in the next 5 years will come from our desire to continue to expand and be able to offer more opportunities for injured UK Service personnel to get directly involved in what the team is doing. We’ve almost reached a crossroads where running the team is becoming a full time job, yet the team has no premises with its key members spread all over the UK. Currently all funding received through sponsorship and donations are used to directly fund the team’s activities on the track, with no one drawing a wage packet or even getting their expenses refunded. As we’ve expanded year on year we’re always looking for the next pound to enable us to continue to grow the team. This in itself will prove to be a huge challenge as raising funds and gaining further new sponsors proves more and more difficult every year. www.trueheroesracing.co.uk- Twitter : @heroesracing www.sportip.biz 47
