Indeed, the main backer is Jeremy Barton, of the Cambrian Inn,
whose support has been vital in allowing the club to prosper
both on and off the field.
The clubs facilities are somewhat ‘old school’, with a pitch
located in such a way that many an opposition team bus has
ended up lost on some far away back road.
Under the guidance of second team player and committee man
Paul Casson, improvements are being made to the club ‘shed’,
which has done well to remain standing amidst the inclement
weather that often visits west Wales.
A new kitchen has recently been installed, with further upgrades
planned to the changing room and shower facilities.
Of course, being such a small close knit club can have its
drawbacks, and at the moment a major challenge is resurrecting
the junior section with numbers having dwindled this past
decade.
The club is currently putting plans in place to reach out further
into the community, and encourage cricket at local primary
schools that will then hopefully filter into the Llanrhian youth
system. It is hoped that within a few years the club will again
have a thriving junior set up to back up its two senior sides.
But most importantly of all, the club will continue to form an
integral part of local life in the coming years, forming links and
making friends both on and off the pitch.
And if they can continue to do that whilst competing in the top
division, then all the better.
“The club will continue
to form an integral part
of local life in the coming
years, forming links and
making friends both on
and off the pitch.”
