Get Involved
The races are due to start at around
midday and it will be free for people
to watch anywhere along the route.
There is also the option of watching
the action unfold live on television in
the UK and across Europe with a huge
television audience expected, helping
to give Yorkshire plenty of exposure.
If you would like to play a more active
role there is also the option to take
part in the Tour de Yorkshire ride
which promises to be one of the most
popular and challenging sporting
events in the British calendar. This
will take place on the morning of
Sunday 3rd May before the pro race
and promises to be a superb spectacle.
Sport in Profile Magazine wishes
anyone taking part in the event the
best of luck.
Stage 3
3rdMay
Wakefield to
Leeds
167km
This will be a return to some of the course raced in 2014
for the Yorkshire Grand Départ of the Tour de France. There
will be a twist however as the riders will start in Wakefield
before heading south to Barnsley before moving on to
Holmfirth to take up the Grand Départ route but in reverse.
They will race to Ripponden before riding the iconic Cragg
Vale which was the country’s longest continual climb in the
Tour de France and now becomes the longest continual
descent.
Riders will then go to Hebden Bridge, Oxenhope
and Haworth before taking on a steep climb at
Goose Eye. They’ll then see Ilkley again and
enter a sprint at Arthington and the
finish line in Roundhay Park
in Leeds.
