DURHAM WILDCATS
PRO BASKETBALL
programme to engage young
people between the ages of 10
and 22 with over 1,000 hours
of coaching being delivered
to more than 7,000 young
people in the last two years.
Many of these people are new
to the sport and the Wildcats
are confident of unearthing
future talent.
Another key objective of the
team is to increase the levels
of physical activity within the
County. They presently have
two players in their squad that
have lived in County Durham
all of their lives and believe
that current players will play
an important role in inspiring
people to remain fit, healthy
and active whilst also aspiring
to achieve excellence.
Their approach is summed
up well by the statement on
their website that, “Beyond
anything else, we want our
programmes to be sustainable
and to be part of a pathway
where people, no matter what
their age and ability, can have
fun, keep fit and achieve!”
Durham Wildcats are still
in the early stages of what
appears to be a terrific set up
and it will certainly be exciting
to see how they are able to
progress over the coming
years. Everyone at Sport in
Profile Magazine would like to
wish them the best of luck for
the rest of the season.
