DURHAM WILDCATS PRO BASKETBALL [DURHAM WILDCATS] [PRO BASKETBALL] The Durham Wildcats are based at The Graham Sports Centre at Maiden Castle on Stockton Road and they currently compete in the BBL Championship. Their approach to basketball is explained well by their club motto which is, “Making Memories, Leaving Legacies”. The team came about as the result of a joint venture between Durham University and Durham County Council and was set up with the ambition of developing the strongest basketball programme in Britain. They finished in 11th place in their first year before taking 9th in their second and will be looking to build on this performance in the coming years. This should provide them with a good platform from which to build as they look ahead towards the rest of the campaign. So long as they are able to keep their key players free from injury they will be in with a good chance of pushing on up the table and could have a chance of making the play-offs which would be a superb achievement. One of the focuses of the Durham Wildcats is development with their playing squad being recruited from Durham University in order to combine Higher Education study with elite basketball. They aim to ensure that their players can grow as athletes and as people during their time with the club and feel that this will lead to success on and off the court. As touche
