BROTHERS PEARSE GAA GAELIC FOOTBALL “ “ I give credit to the intermediate clubs, I know it’s hard work but put in the effort and their time will come. Commercial “The fact we are senior is a big help; it’s a great advertisement for new players. There was a time in 2010 when we were down as intermediate which is a huge struggle. I give credit to the intermediate clubs, I know it’s hard work but put in the effort and their time will come. As we are the oldest club in London we have received great publicity. For example, I was asked to appear on ITV in a pre-recording before the England v Ireland football match in the Brothers Pearse kit to promote hurling.” Challenges “Reaching the 100 year anniversary would be a huge mark in our clubs history. We’ve come a huge way since 1920, keeping the players is always a struggle as lads use London as a stepping stone to Australia and beyond meaning the numbers always jump up and down. Building on the youth coming up would be a great alternative to not have to rely so much on passing players. Within the next 5 years our aims would be 3 senior titles, senior leagues and the London cups to get into the club championship and have a chance playing the teams in Ireland and to lift the cup would be a dream.” www.sportip.biz 57
