“The Head Coach of the Senior
club is also our development
officer so he works with the
youth teams, watching the
kids come through the ranks
and so is well aware of the
talent that we have. We’ve two
young guys in their 2nd year
out of school, Scott Simpson
and Dougie Sutherland, that
are back with the club this
year and they’re showing a
lot of potential. Shaun Burns
has also done very well whilst
Chris Barnett has come
through to play for the first
team regularly.”
Progression
“We’re trying to improve the
facilities at the club but that
is a challenge financially. We
want to develop so that we
can put out 3 senior teams
each week although numbers
are holding us back a little bit.
We’re keen to encourage more
volunteers to step up and help
the Committee and just want
to have extra professionalism
all round.”
Fundraising
“The fundraising we’re doing is
a mix of two things; fundraising
for the club and also trying
to fundraise for our Rugby
Development Team. We’d
like to add to that so that we
can increase our reach into
schools. We’re setting up a
charitable trust which is going
to focus upon that.
