RHC Cougars achieved promotion last season and are now looking to establish themselves
in their new league. Sport in Profile Magazine caught up with their President Douglas Cross
to find out how they’ve been getting along.
Atmosphere
“The mood here is positive. Having been promoted last
year we’ve gone in to a new league which is obviously
a step up but we’re holding our own and competing well.
We’re not winning every game but we’re in the top half of
the league and we’re hopeful that we’ll be able to kick on
as the season progresses. Our 2nd team are 4th in their
league and the Ladies have made a similar start.”
Success
“I think the continuity that we’ve had in the coaching team
and the good additions to the side we’ve made with the
youngsters coming through have been key factors in our
progress. The teams have been together for a couple of
years and guys are starting to respond to the way that
we’re trying to play and really buy into it.”
Step Up
“The league we’ve moved into is a lot more physical so
we’ve had to adjust. Up front you’ve got to make sure
we get parity. Last year when we didn’t play well we still
managed to win whereas this year we’ve had to play well
to win and even when we have played well there has been
no guarantee that we get the result. I think the team is
responding well to the challenge though.”
