The club had a significant change in fortunes from the 2002/03 season as American Coach Kevin Wall came in to lead the side. Thorsten Leibenath then became the league’s first German coach but only stayed for one season before moving back to Germany to lead the Giessen 46ers. He was replaced by the current player/coach Sterling Davis who has worked hard in order to help the club progress. He led the team to a 3rd place finish in 2009/10 when they compiled a 23-13 record. They produced some superb displays in the Play-offs but were unable to overcome Everton Tigers in the final, going down 8072. They have not made it back to the finals since but are confident that they can put together a positive campaign this time around. The early signs have been positive as they have managed to put together a record of 4 wins and 3 defeats from their first 7 matches. This has left them sitting in the top half of the table with 8 points on the board and should provide them with the perfect platform from which to build as they look ahead towards the rest of the campaign. It will certainly be exciting to see how they are able to progress. Glasgow Rocks have done a terrific job establishing themselves as one of the leading clubs in the UK and appear well positioned to continue challenging honours over the coming years. www.sportip.biz 5 “
