Kent Kings Speedway club has brought back stadium-based dirt track motorcycle racing
to the Garden of England! With a season comprising 20 meetings, competing in the sport’s
prestigious National League, every Monday from April to October, Kent Speedway has seen
the crowds return to enjoy what was a traditional pastime in the county back in the 1960s to
the 1980s.
There’s nothing retro though about the
excitement served up at the splendid
Central Park Stadium – home, since
2013, of the UK’s newest Speedway club.
For the Kings’ Derek Barclay, who keeps
himself busy as the track announcer,
programme editor, spokesperson and
Press Officer, the return of Speedway
racing to his home county has been the
most positive development in a lifetime of
