WANDSWORTH DEMONS
AUSSIE RULES FOOTBALL
Profile Magazine caught up with the club’s
President Ange De Lacovo to find out more
about the set-up they have in place.
Involvement
He told us, “I have been with the DEMONS
since 2008 when I was missing home a bit
and my local footy passion brought that
back to me. Having good friends around
and camaraderie that I have missed being
in London soon came right back to me.
Instantly having dozens of friends and a
social network that never ends is a huge
asset, as we all look after each other at the
DEMONS. 3 teams, 1 club we like to say.”
The Role
“As president of the club the most
challenging thing is to organise the
development of the club and have us grow
while doing this. Recruiting non Australians
is a major part of this as we always try to
introduce our sport to different nationalities.
Having a multicultural team is something
we aspire to do. When this happens it is
amazing to watch as we have several key
players who now love the game as much
as all of us do.”
Atmosphere
“We have had an amazing year in 2014,
doubling our members and the guys have
really pulled together on and off the field.
The DEMONS have truly become a family
this year and it has shown on the field as
well. Having two grades make the grand
final and our social team just missing out.
It’s a great vibe at the moment and it seems
to be carrying on into 2015 with many of
the guys keen to start playing again.”
