RYGBI GOGLEDD CYMRU This was then converted by Nicky Thomas to go 3-19 ahead. Then Kelvin Davies fought his way over the white line for the first RGC try, converted in the hurricane like wind by Rhodri Carlton Jones to bring the scores to 10-19. On the stroke of half time, Mark Bennett Jones scored the detrimental, bonus winning fourth try, converted by Nicky Thomas, who was on top of his game, to give an impressive 1026 intermission lead. If the crowd thought this scoring spree would continue in to the second half they were severely mistaken as a period of untidy play occurred before full back, Afon Bagshaw, gave the home crowd hope of a comeback with yet another try, converted by Rhodri Carlton Jones to make it 17-26 after 58 minutes of play. Thomas then converted another try, after 65 minutes, to make the score a 17-33 lead to Swansea. Thomas secures some more penalties to extend their lead to 1739, but spoilt his streak by finding himself in the cooler for the remaining ten minutes. The game fizzled out in the final few minutes and the referee brought action to an end on what was a pretty impressive performance by the visitors with a final score of 17-39. Despite the loss, RGC supporters remained supportive as they chanted on “RGC RGC” amongst the sound of ‘Calon Lan.’ Despite coming up a little short in this game, RGC can still be pleased with the start that they’ve made to the season and will be confident of pushing on up the table over the coming months.
