Speedway itself faces many challenges; particularly
league speedway in the UK. The country has dropped
down the “pecking order” of other European countries
and we often come off second best when there are
fixture clashes with matches on the continent.
A sensible way forward needs to be found so that teams
are not forever searching for guest replacements for
stars who are riding elsewhere. Speedway fans want
to see the top riders. Our main ambition has to be
survival at the moment and having a team on track in
2015.”

Speedway, the sport of 500cc bikes with no brakes and a smell you will never
forget. My speedway life started as a baby in the pram at Rayleigh Weir but
they closed and moved to Ryehouse. As life goes on I moved to London and
went to Hackney where I met up with John Wainwright who was riding for
Newcastle.
I went on to help him in the pits when he moved back to Ryehouse, helping
him with a little bit of sponsorship as well. I moved to Kent and had to support
the eagles top flight speedway and a young Nickie Pederson.
After a little while I started sponsoring heat13 through my business. I give
the team steak when they get a maximum score. It is too big a club to close
their gates so many great names have ridden for the club and with the new
youth system they have many more to come.So long live the eagles.
