WEST BRIDGFORD WEST BRIDGFORD Based at the Memorial Ground on Stamford Road in Nottingham, West Bridgford RFC currently competes in the Midlands 2 East (North) League. They are led by the team of President David Pointing and Chairman Dilwyn Evans and the club is looking to progress under their guidance. Club Representative Ian Marriott took the time to tell us more about the club, saying, “I have been a member at West Bridgford RFC for the last 17 years, during that time I have been the Hon Secretary for the last 11 years and finally retired at the end of last season. I thought I had retired but somehow have ended up writing this article! As secretary, the role has changed considerably since taking over some 11 years ago; the club membership has grown as such there is increased responsibility both in new processes and policies as well as increased financial demands. We became a limited company many years ago, which again brings its own responsibilities. As a club we were awarded a grant from the RFU for new floodlights three years ago and we are currently redeveloping our clubhouse, again with funding from RFU, Wren, Nottinghamshire County Council legacy fund and Rushcliffe Borough Council.
