Dalriada DALRIADA Dalriada GFC play their home games at the Sheddocksley Playing Fields in Aberdeen having moved there for the 2013 season and plan to remain there for the foreseeable future. They play in black and gold horizontally striped jerseys, black shorts and black socks and formed the Dundee Dalriada Ladies at the end of 2013. The club’s name comes from the ancient Celtic Kingdom, Dál Riata, which preceded the ancient Celtic Kingdom of Alba which spanned Argyllshire and Northern Antrim. They will be looking to add to their trophy cabinet over the coming years and appear to have a good chance of doing so. Competing in the Scotland GAA Men’s League they managed to put together a strong campaign in the first half of 2014. They compiled a league record of 5 wins and 3 defeats from their 8 matches which left them in 2nd place with 10 points on the board. This allowed them to progress on to the League Final where they took on Dunedin Connolly’s who had topped the table. The fixture was played on the 5th July and was a close encounter but Dalriada was eventually defeated 0-11 to 1-05, narrowly missing out on the trophy. The team has been determined to improve from this set-back and the signs have been good so far in the Scotland GAA Men’s Championship. With one game left to play in the league format they have an improved record already with 5 wins, 1 draw and 1 defeat from their 7 matches. Their rivals Dunedin Connolly’s again top the table with the two sides setting up another meeting in the final. In what is sure to be another exciting encounter Dalriada will be confident of overcoming their opponents to claim the glory. As well as their improvement overall in results the team also managed to claim a draw against their final opponents which should act as a confidence boost for the side. The game finished 1-11 to 1-11 and a similarly tight clash is predicted when the two team’s meet. There is much to admire about the set-up that Dalriada currently has in place and this should enable them to look forwards to a bright and successful future. A trophy would be a just reward for all of the hard work that has been put into making them a success and everyone at Sport in Profile Magazine would like to wish them the best of luck. “ A trophy would be a just reward for all of the hard work that has been put [
