NEATH
NEATH
Article provided by Lauren Davies,
Neath Media and PR Officer
Neath RFC is a fantastic example of a
club that plays a vital role in their local
community. Sport in Profile Magazine
caught up with their Media Manager
Lauren Davies to find out more about
the good work that they have been
doing.
Involvement
She started by telling us about her involvement
with the club, saying, “I have been involved with
Neath since June earlier this year. I am a Welsh
Rugby Union Enterprise Academy Member
dedicating one year to the internship programme
while studying Journalism and Media at Cardiff
University.
I was placed at Neath RFC where I have been
appointed Media and PR Officer for the current
season. I am really enjoying my time at Neath, the
club are providing me with lots of opportunities,
the team and club are very welcoming.”
The Role
“The most rewarding aspects of my role are to
watch the players grow throughout the season.
Watching the Welsh All Blacks week in week
out, watching them progress and improve within
their game is great to see and write about. The
challenging aspect would most probably be
being sat in the press box during a cold and wet
windy night in South Wales, however there is
nothing better than throwing on a good coat and
some warm gloves to keep you warm through
the full 80.”
Atmosphere
“Neath are doing well at the moment with
lots of new additions on and off the pitch. The
atmosphere is good and the team are raring to
go. We’ve had some wins and some losses so
far during preseason and it was hard for the team
to start off with a loss in their first match of the
season during the British and Irish Cup qualifier
against local rivals, Aberavon. But the boys are
keeping their spirits up. They are a relatively new
bunch, Neath have been dismantled and put
back together. There are lots of things within our
game that need improving, however there are a
lot of promising aspects within the team.
