Old Silhillians Hockey Club is based on Warwick Road,
Solihull in the West Midlands and their men’s first team
compete in the West Midlands Premier League. In total
they have six Men’s teams, and 3 Ladies’ teams. They
were the first Hockey Club to be awarded the Sport
England Clubmark accreditation.
The success of their set-up is represented by the fact
that they were voted as one of the Top 10 Hockey
Clubs in Europe in 2012 and were Runners-up in
England’s Hockey Club of the Year awards in 2013 and
2014. They also won the CSW Sport Club of the Year in
2013.
They have some superb facilities in place including
their own astroturf where they host training and home
matches as well as a high quality clubhouse. It has 2
bars, complete changing and showering facilities, onsite catering and facilities for a variety of other sports.
Their men’s first team enjoyed a superb campaign
last time around as they compiled a record of having
won 16, drawn 3 and lost just 1 of their 20 matches.
This saw them finish top of the table by a considerable
distance and was a just reward for the level of
performance that they produced.
A particular highlight of the team’s performances was
the attacking brand of hockey that they managed to
produce. They notched 96 times at a rate of nearly 5
per match, outscoring any other side in the league by
21.
This certainly ensured that anybody attending their
matches were well entertained and
