BIRCH GROVE So long as they are able to retain their current group of players and perhaps make one or two quality additions they should be in for more success in the coming year. The early signs have certainly been positive as they have managed to rack up 3 wins from their first 3 fixtures. Their most recent victory came in their first home fixture as they defeated Baglan by 50 points to 17 to claim a bonus point along with the win. They will be keen to use the momentum that they’ve created as a catalyst to go on and mount a serious challenge at the top of the table. Birchgrove is not a team to focus solely upon their senior section however as they also run a youth side. This team looks to provide young players from the local area with an opportunity to play the game in a safe and enjoyable environment whilst helping them to reach their full potential. It is important for any club to be able to produce their own talent, particularly in the current financial climate and this is an area that they appear to have covered. It will certainly be exciting to see how their youngsters are able to develop over the coming years. Birchgrove is a club that is achieving plenty of success on the field and this has not happened by chance. Their team benefits from the outstanding structure their Committee has put in place which should allow the club to look forwards to a bright and successful future.
