CALDICOT Community “We are a community club providing opportunities for all age groups. Youth rugby is very important to the club and almost all of our senior squad originally played youth rugby for us. We hold joint training sessions and give youth players the opportunity to play senior rugby as soon as they are old enough. The facilities at the club are also used by other voluntary groups and professional organisations within the local area. We have run training sessions for both ladies and girls this season. The uptake has been rather disappointing but we will attempt to re-establish this in the future subject to demand.” Progression “Rhys Buckley played youth rugby for the club and has recently joined Newport Gwent Dragons. Mike Powell played for the club before progressing to the Ospreys where he captained the region against Australia. More recently Mike has played club rugby for Mosley 46 ISSUE 01 and has also played for the Barbarians. Joe Davies has represented Wales at U17 level and has recently played for the Newport Gwent Dragons.” Challenges/Ambitions “The biggest challenge that we face is maintaining and developing our facilities within the constraints of the current economic restrictions. Over the coming years we would like to develop our playing strength at senior level and progress through the WRU League structure by two divisions.” Training 1st XV – Tuesday and Thursday evenings, meet at 6.30pm for 6.45pm start Athletic XV, Youth XV and Veterans XV – Tuesday and Thursday evenings at 7pm President: E.
