NEWCASTLE COYOTES Community “I think that we have the potential to be a community club but with the large number of teams playing at the same venue it’s hard to really get a core following from local people. We are however a very family orientated club; we encourage all of our players to bring their wife’s, children and other relatives to home games whenever possible so that they can share in the experience of the sport we all love. The highlight of most home games is taking over 3 or 4 tables in the foxhunters pub for food afterwards this really makes everyone feel part of things.” Commercial “We do have 2 sponsors who were kind enough to pay for new strips. These are Gary Wood of JR Wood Electrical and George Young of Smart Office Solutions. Both of these gentlemen are players and local businessmen so we advertise their companies on our website.” Challenges “I think that the biggest challenge that all the local clubs could face in the next 5 years is rink closures, the local councils are not supporting these types of venues. Our ambitions including winning the EIHA rec festival, 36 ISSUE 01 playing a tournament in a foreign country, attending a BOBIHC hockey camp as a team, recruiting 2 or 3 more good level players in there 20’s to give us a little more speed at times and to make sure that everyone is always having a good time.” The highlight of most home games is taking over 3 or 4 tables in the foxhunters pub for food afterwards this really makes everyone feel part of things.”
