“We are very proud that our youth teams have been
awarded the Quality Mark by the Scottish Junior
Football Association. This means that there are
qualified coaches for every team, all relevant policies
and procedures are in place including for example,
child protection and they have their own committee who
do a great job looking after the 50 or so youngsters who
play for the 4 teams they run.
Although during the last few years there have not
been many local lads progressing through to the first
team, we are very confident that we have some future
stars amongst the current junior ranks. It is fair to say
that because we are a small community, lots of young
people will leave the town to go to college, university or
even to work, which means that we do not get to see
many of our junior players make it through to the first
team before they go.
That is not to say that some will return to play after
going elsewhere first. We are a community club and
nothing would please me more than to see our home
grown players and local lads in the first team squad.”
