It is vital for any side to be able to produce their own
talent and this is an area that they appear to have
covered. Coaching staff overseeing this part of the club
are confident they have a number of players involved
with the potential to enjoy a successful future in the
game.
In order to help their youngsters to make the
sometimes difficult transition into the senior game
Durham also has a number of additional sides running.
This allows them to give players experience of adult
level rugby even if they are not yet considered ready for
first team action.
Another benefit of having so many sides is that it allows
1st XV players returning from injury to ease back into
action. They have the chance to get some minutes
under their belts away from the pressures of first team
action.
