Whitley Bay Ice Rink Whitley Bay Ice Rink is also committed to providing young people with a chance to get involved in ice hockey and a number of team’s benefit from its use. In total five junior sides (Mischiefs, Arrows, Mohawks, Tomahawks and Braves) play there, as well as a girl’s team known as the Squaws. It is also used by two University sides under the names the Northumbria Kings and the Newcastle Wildcats. The incredible amount of team’s that use the facility helps to demonstrate what an important part of the local community the ice rink is. Getting juniors involved with the facility should ensure that it is able to continue with the good work that it has been doing long into the future. It is this commitment to providing visitors with the best experience possible that has allowed for high profile events to be hosted in the past including WWE Wrestling events. It also used to host a number of music concerts. Whitley Bay Ice Rink is clearly a venue that provides a lot of people with a chance to enjoy activities that would otherwise be unavailable to them. Hopefully they will be able to continue in the same manner for many years to come and everyone at Sport in Profile Magazine would like to take this opportunity to congratulate the people involved for what they have achieved. Aside from Ice Hockey the facility is able to host a number of different events such as skating sessions, birthday parties and disco parties. This has the potential to provide the ice rink with a valuable source of additional revenue which is particularly important in the current financial climate. It is committed to providing the best facilities possible and this was reflected by the fact that it undertook several improvements in 2008 with new barriers, plexi glass and bench doors for hockey players being installed. www.sportip.biz 13
