Whitley Bay Sharks Whitley Bay Sharks Based at Whitley Bay Ice Rink on Hillheads Road, the Whitley Bay Sharks are a relatively new recreational, non-checking ice hockey team. They do a fantastic job of helping people in their local community to get involved in the game. The team worked hard during the off-season to ensure that they are able to do as well as possible in the current campaign. There were players that moved on as well as a number who came in and the team are now confident that they have a roster capable of picking up positive results. The team is still looking to add to their squad and welcome players of all abilities from beginners to those who have played for years. Through July they managed to recruit 7 new players but are still looking for additional talent to complement what they have. Having done so much hard work during the summer everybody at the club was keen to get off to a good start as they travelled to the National Ice Center to take on the Nottingham Outlaws in their first game of the season. There were plenty of positives for the team to take from the game however they were eventually defeated by 4 goals to 2. They fell behind 2-0 but the new group of players showed good character to continue competing in the fixture. As players began to tire towards the end of the match they strugg Y
