painful on my knee and again in and around my eye. I took a look at my knee and saw it had been pretty bloodied up by the ax. When I went inside to look at my eye (which by the way, I could not see out of) it had literally almost been gouged out of my head. ‘That firkin’ dummy’ I hissed under my breath. ‘That demon on Earth must have come in the night to try and kill me. That little-’ I was stopped mid-sentence by the thought of how my parents were going to react to my knee and my eye. Wheels started spinning. If the dummy did not kill me, they would. Mom FREAKED THE FLIP OUT. Dad said it made me look manly. Mom then screamed at him that I was a young lady, not some battle boy. Dad and I both said no one at school would care, much less notice my scratch. Until 7:30 my mom was giving as many reasons as possible as to why I should go to the E.R., and in the end, she just picked me up, put me in the car, and sped off. That was when she noticed my knee. She was screaming all the way to the hospital. The doctors and nurses kept frantically asking how it happened, but I stuck with the same thing I told Mom; I was attacked by dogs. The weird part was the story must have sounded pretty believable because that is what they told my mother. The doctors were afraid of what my mother might do if she found out what really happened, so they wrote it on a piece of paper and told me to give it to my dad. Mom would not stop yelling at the fact that dogs had caused me to get stitches and bandages. When we got home, I went inside and gave the paper to my dad. We went outside, him from the front, me out the back. When I got outside, I waited and listened. Dad just shrieked. I thought it was just the note’s content. I went to the fire pit. But nothing was there. Not even ashes. I searched frantically for something, anything. However, what I found was horrific. It was the charred face of the demon and the limbs not three feet away. Except for an arm. It was nowhere in sight. Epilogue (The next day)   Five homicides in one day and one house. Only two days after the purchase of a ventriloquist dummy.
