SPLICED MAGAZINE / ED'S NOTE / THE FIFTH ELEMENT
ISSUE 05
The fifth element
I realised the other day we’re almost a year into the production of Spliced. A year! Can
you actually believe it? Our first issue was published in October 2013, and we’re now
five issues in with an ever growing fan base and continued support from pretty much
everyone – from our readers to the awesome people who give us prizes every issue to
give to said readers.
Every time I sit down to write my Ed’s
note I am suddenly aware that there are
so many amazing people who make this
happen, and I don’t know if we really
acknowledge them enough. To our
contributors, who give of their time, talent
and energy to turn Spliced into something
awesome every single issue, and rarely ask
for anything in return – thank you – from
the bottom of my heart, thank you for
making this magazine what it is. I know
sometimes it’s hard to continuously come
up with something new and interesting to
say (I’ve done this for long enough to have
been in this position myself!) but somehow
you always manage to do so.
This month as always we have some
awesome competitions, most of which I
would love to win myself, but sadly that
would be cheating, and well… yeah I’m too
honest for that. Anyway, make sure you
look out for them, and enter! You won’t be
disappointed!
LETTERS
We'd love to hear from you, so if
you have any comments, ideas or
criticisms drop us a mail at
[email protected] and
we'll feature them in forthcoming
issues of Spliced. Who knows, the
best letter might even win a prize.
Nudge, nudge. Wink wink, say no
more, say no more.
As I’m sure you’re aware by now if you’ve
read our magazine before, every issue we
bring on an amazing illustrator to do our
chapter art, and this issue is no exception.
Designer and illustrator Nikki Meier has
created completely custom artwork for
every chapter as well as our opening and
closing spreads.
