GADGETS FOR A ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE
THE ESSENTIAL LIST OF TECH TO SURVIVE THE UNDEAD.
by Pippa Tshabalala
Let’s face it, in the event of a zombie apocalypse you’re probably not going to find many of your
gadgets still working. Nevertheless, there are likely a few bits and bobs that you should probably
stock up on in the event that the world as we know it collapses into Armageddon, complete with
brain eating undead. Get in now and order these online before all our networking systems collapse.
BRCK
D
eveloped in Africa with enough backup power to
survive a blackout, this robust connectivity device
is designed for places where electricity and internet
connectivity are problematic and therefore is just made
for a zombie apocalypse!
It’s summed up as “a personal backup generator for
the Internet”. Yes, we know most of your devices will
ultimately become useless, but in those early days when
some systems are still operational, this would be your
best bet to attempt contact with other survivors are
and start making your way to the strongholds before
civilisation collapses.
You can use a 3G SIM card in over 140 countries that
broadcasts a WiFi signal that can be shared, and if you
don’t have a SIM card, there is a BRCK vMNO for global
connectivity without using a SIM card. It’s physically
robust so it’s not going to break at the drop of a hat. If
the power goes out you’ll get 8 hours in full power mode,
and you can charge the BRCK from a solar panel or a car
battery if necessary.

Powerpot
P
ractical to the nth degree, the PowerPot lets you
charge your mobile devices while cooking. By mobile
we mean anything that can charge via a USB, so you
could charge pretty much anything from a phone to a
portable light. It charges from any heat source, whether
it be wood, a stove, coal – whatever. It’s pretty simple as
well, simply add water to the pot, and place it over any
heat source.
The PowerPot uses thermoelectric technology to
create electricity from excess heat. The charging cables
are all flame resistant, so don’t worry about frying your
cables either. Typically a cell phone will charge at about
the same speed as it does from a wall outlet, so 1-2 hours,
which isn’t too bad although you will have to keep that
pot on the stove the entire time. The maximum output of
the PowerPot is 1 Amp and it will start generating power
within 30 seconds.
