As I pondered the essence of the October Breast Cancer Awareness pages for Splash , an irresistible urge to narrate Kimberly ’ s story enveloped me . Her remarkable journey struck a profound chord within my heart , and I fervently hope you perceive it with the same spirit of inspiration and admiration that captivated me .
Full Circle : Kimberly ' s Journey and Our Connection
FULL CIRCLE
Ironically , I met Kimberly through her parents , Karey and Buddy Morton , not long after she received her breast cancer diagnosis . At that time , she was so young and , despite her strength , disappointed by the lack of necessities for comfort and care during the long recovery periods breast cancer survivors face . Whether it was the absence of soft , easy-access comfort wear or garment accessories to hold the weight of the heavy drains required after surgery , she noticed that nothing seemed designed to ease the burden for women like her .
Kimberly had a vision . She wanted to create a resource where women could go for help and support — somewhere they could find these much-needed items and connect with others who understood their struggles . She asked me to help her set up a blog and a website that could serve as a guide for breast cancer survivors . At the time , nothing like that existed . We collaborated for a while , brainstorming ideas , but then life — and cancer — got in the way .
Many years have passed since that initial conversation . Things have changed for both of us , but one thing has never wavered : my love and respect for Kimberly . She has faced unimaginable challenges with grace , always standing strong as a rock for her friends and family . Now , as I find myself publishing her story , I never thought I would be the one telling the tale of her long and arduous struggle with this disease .
Kimberly ’ s hope is that someone will read her story and know of a clinical trial or doctor that can help her continue her fight against the relentless odds we call cancer . Her journey is not over , and she continues to inspire everyone around her , fighting with everything she has . Her journey has always been about more than just survival — it ’ s about resilience , hope , and unwavering determination . From the day I met her , she ’ s been a beacon of strength for everyone who knows her . Now , more than ever , she needs us to stand beside her , sharing her story and lifting her up in her fight against breast cancer .
Kimberly ’ s vision to provide comfort and care for breast cancer survivors remains as relevant today as it was when she first sought to build a supportive community . Though life and cancer have thrown many obstacles her way , her spirit has never dimmed .
This hashtag is not just a symbol of support — it ’ s a rallying cry for all those who believe in her strength , her fight , and her hope for a better tomorrow . Join us as we continue to fight with Kimberly , sharing her story far and wide in the hopes that someone , somewhere , holds the key to helping her beat the odds .
# InTheFightWithKimberly — because no one fights alone .
