DOG DAYS OF SUMMER
Foley American Legion Post 99 hosted the " Dog Days of Summer," a heartwarming community event aimed at raising awareness for local dog rescues and promoting pet adoption. Families and dog lovers gathered for a funfilled day that included pet-friendly activities, live music, and educational outreach.
Wags and Whiskers Rescue featured numerous adoptable dogs, and by the end of the day, over 20 dogs had found their " FurEver " homes. Attendees brought their own leashed pets and participated in a lively Patriotic Dog Parade, while exciting demonstrations were provided by Foley and Gulf Shores Police K9 units, as well as trainer David Jones of Southern K9.
The American Legion served food and drinks, and the Doc Johnson Band kept the atmosphere festive with live music. Event sponsors like Culver’ s and Wild for Waffles added extra flair to the day. The Marine Corps League hosted a booth to support veterans and recruit new members, while Service Dogs of Alabama assisted guests seeking service dog applications.
The event proved to be a resounding success, blending family fun, community support, and a shared mission to help animals in need.
