Author, Lynette Hopkin
LYNETTE HOPKIN, an author and artist born in the idyllic Caribbean island of Grenada, travelled extensively and lived in several countries before settling in Montreal, Canada. She spent three years in Malaysia with her husband, Michael, exploring the magical lands of Southeast Asia. Her journeys inspired her to write a travel memoir that transports readers to her favourite exotic places and shares the joys and tribulations of living as an expat in distinct societies.
' A Grenadian in Asia ' is Lynette’ s account of her exciting and humorous adventures across seven Asian countries. Her stories make us feel the wonderment of discovering new cultures and alert us to the hidden dangers that lie in unfamiliar territories. Between her trips to magnificent temples and breathtaking landscapes, Lynette tells us of coming face-to-face with a peeping Tom in an eight-storey apartment window; an attempted airport taxi abduction; and a spinechilling handbag drug plant. Her book is a cocktail of fun, thrills, tales of survival, and reflections that concludes with a foreshadowing letter to a friend, penned in 2003 during the SARS scare, a time when the world could not imagine the pandemic that would break in 2020.
