In recent years , staff and residents launched a gardening project aimed at offsetting the cost of their monthly food bill , while at the same time providing training in agriculture , composting , land clearing , poultry and crop production .

To date , the project has yielded more than 74 chickens and a variety of crops , including : sweet potatoes , cassavas , tomatoes , cabbages , carrots , broccoli , kale , cauliflower , lettuce , beet , and corn .

Bel Air Home for Children and Adolescents
Bel Air Home for children and Adolescents Inc . was incorporated in 1997 , coming out of a need to provide a safe , caring , loving and protected environment for children and young people deprived of their natural family setting . The Child Protection Authority created by the Child Protection Act of 1998 is the governing body of the Home . The core mission of the home is , “ To promote and provide appropriate care , services and activities for the welfare , benefit and educational development of children and young people .”
The Home provides shelter and daily care for up to thirty-five children ranging from 0 – 18 years . The children are also provided with clothes , school supplies etc . Presently two attend secondary school and fourteen attend primary school . Over the past five years , three have graduated from secondary school and are now gainfully employed and live outside of the home .
