Edwin Martin Commissioner of Police , Grenada

Commissioner of Police , Edwin Martin , is from the village of Mt Moritz , St . George . He attended the Mt . Moritz Anglican Primary School and subsequently the Grenada Boys Secondary School . Mr . Martin joined the Royal Grenada Police Force ( RGPF ) on July 1 , 1986 . From his initial training he graduated top of his class , earning him the Baton of Honour . Throughout his career Mr . Martin attended many courses and conferences . He excelled at the Regional Security System ( RSS ) training courses , this contributed to him being promoted to the rank of Corporal within three years of service . Subsequently , he was drafted on to the Regional Security Training Team as one of the first two Regional Instructors . He was based in Barbados for four years as a Regional Instructor .
Identified for his operational prowess and intellectual acumen he was identified , and ultimately selected for an accelerated promotion program during the period 1992 – 1994 . This program was held in Jamaica in partnership with the then College of Arts Science and Technology . It was during the practical phase of this program that he implemented the Police Farm-watch Scheme and several other community policing programs in the Royal Grenada Police Force .
In the pursuit of self-development , Mr . Martin attained a Bachelor ’ s of Science degree with honours BSc .( Hons ) in Business Administration from the St George ’ s University . He subsequently won a coveted Chevening Scholarship , to be one of nine candidates from a field of over three thousand applicants across the Eastern Caribbean . This scholarship afforded Mr . Martin the opportunity to earn a Master ’ s of Science ( MSc .) degree in Criminology and Criminal Justice
