Ladies and gentlemen ,
It is my distinct honor and privilege to extend a warm welcome to the Prime Minister of Grenada , Honorable Dickon Mitchell , and his distinguished entourage who are visiting us for the first time in Montreal , Quebec , to enjoy the festivities of the 7th Annual Spice Island Cultural Festival .
Honorable Prime Minister , your presence at the Festival is deeply appreciated and adds immense value to this event .
I am also honored to recognize our esteemed guest , Honorable Dr . Jean Augustine . Her remarkable journey from humble beginnings in Happy Hill to the heights of Parliament Hill as the first Black woman in federal politics in Canada serves as an inspiration to us all . Dr . Augustine ’ s significant contributions to Canada have touched countless lives and left an enduring legacy . We are truly privileged to have her attend the Festival for the first time .
As we celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Grenada ’ s Independence at the Spice Island
Cultural Festival this year , I want to offer our Congratulations to the people of Grenada and express our heartfelt gratitude to the talented artists who have traveled from Grenada , compliments of the Government of Grenada , to perform at the festival for the next few days . Randy Isaac , Vaughn , and Squeezie , along with KennyC from Toronto , will undoubtedly enrich our cultural experience and bring joy to all in attendance at Vinet Park in downtown Montreal .
I also want to take a moment to recognize and thank our sponsors from Grenada , whose generous support has made this festival possible . Special thanks to Paula LaTouche of Century 21 Grenada for her efforts in bringing the delegation from Grenada to join us in these festivities . We also extend our gratitude to Republic Bank Grenada , Netherlands Insurance Grenada , and lawyer Roseana John . Together , they will show us how to get a slice of Grenada .
A very special thanks to our sponsor , the Grenada Tourism Authority , for their unwavering support over the past seven years .
