ELIZABETH ALLICK , founder of Natural Spices of Grenada , began working with spices at 14 . She created a business offering fresh , sun-dried spices and teas . In 2024 , she formed “ A Taste of Grenada ” to showcase Grenada in South Florida , celebrating its history and cuisine . The event featured local products , cultural performances , and traditional foods .
GERRY HOPKIN , JD , is Grenada ’ s Consul General in Canada , based in Toronto . An accomplished servant-leader and educator , he holds degrees in law , mass communications , and political science . Hopkin has a distinguished career in community organizing , journalism , and diplomacy , with numerous awards recognizing his contributions to education and public service .
HERMAN HALL , born in 1945 in St . John ’ s , Grenada , attended local schools before moving to New York for college . He founded EVERYBODY ’ S Magazine and had a successful journalism career , including roles during Grenada ’ s invasion . Hall promoted Caribbean culture , managed calypsonian Winston Bailey , and authored books on Grenada ’ s history , earning multiple accolades and public service awards .
JEAN AUGUSTINE immigrated to Canada as a nanny and in 1993 became the first Black Woman elected to Parliament , championing the Black History Month and Famous Five motions . In her name are a young women ’ s centre , a university chair , two schools , two parks , three postsecondary scholarships and eight honorary doctorates .
