BERTHA PITT , born in Gouyave , began teaching at the tender age of 16 in Grenada . She studied in London , married Dennis Bonaparte , and settled in Montreal in the 1960s . Bertha earned a Master ’ s degree in Education , taught music for 50 years and co-founded several cultural associations . She has four children and six grandchildren .
BRIAN FRANKLIN has been involved with technology since childhood , studying at Presentation Brothers College ( PBC ) and Grenada Technical and Vocational Institute . After obtaining an MBA from New York Institute of Technology ( NYIT ), he joined New York City Transit ( NYCT ) as a Telephone Technician . Currently , he is the Assistant Chief Officer of the Telecommunications Department , overseeing network infrastructure and electronic systems .
LEON “ LEO ” CHARLES moved to Canada at 19 , transitioning from chef to restaurant owner . In July 2017 , he opened Greenz Restaurant in Lachine , Quebec , offering a fusion of Caribbean and Grenadian dishes . The 95-seat eatery , including a private booth , serves traditional fare and gourmet beverages and it has become a popular spot for special events .
DESALINE JOHNSON known as Chef Des , began her culinary journey after graduating from Boca Secondary School in 1993 . Influenced by her mother and culinary luminaries , she pursued formal training and internships . Now in Virginia Beach , USA , she founded J & J on the Up Scale in 2018 , embodying her father ’ s mantra to dream big .
DAWNE FRANCOIS , former Honorary Consul General for Grenada in Toronto , served from 2021 to 2023 . With a tourism background since 1980 , she launched charter flights to Grenada in 1988 . Her career includes roles at Grenada Tourism Authority and American Express . She excelled in diplomacy , community service and leadership .
