I was born in the countryside of Grenada to a music loving family . I have 8 siblings , our yard was always filled with music , we would always have impromptu vocal sessions . It ’ s how we started our mornings and ended our days . My mom was a calypsonian , she wrote many songs that I still perform and even mimic to this day and my dad ’ s first love is a brown box guitar named “ Betsy ” that he ’ s had all my life . We were not a wealthy family , music and our imaginations were at one time our only forms of entertainment so we were taught at an early age to appreciate it .
When I was eighteen , shy and completely inexperienced , I was invited to do a twosong feature with a gospel band at a christmas eve show , the owner of the venue heard my little set and was impressed , but I lived on the other side of the island and it was really hard to get in touch with me . After a year of searching , he finally found me and asked if we could make some music . I said “ yes ” and we never stopped . That was in 2014 .
It ’ s taken me a while to develop a sound that reflects my Caribbean roots but also borrows from the music that inspires me , which would be soul , R & B and some traditional African styles . In my career so far , I ’ ve
