She loves people , and they love her back , have tremendous respect for all no matter their station in life . Each is a teacher of some usefulness . That ’ s her approach to dealing with people . “ I expect good unless and until I experience anything otherwise ”.
Q . What were the foundation and principles which guided and molded you to be the person you became in Grenada and now in Quebec ?
A . Christian teaching - being raised Catholic and having attended Methodist and catholic primary and secondary schools , respectively .
Growing up in a farm family grounded me in regard for the earth , its resources and need for caring . I believe there is a rootedness that one imbibes from tilling the soil and reaping its yield . The rotation of the seasons bears in lessons for life as well as the value of nature as a source of food and by extension income or sustenance . Divine provision .
Q : At what age and stage in your early childhood did you feel the need to get involved in the social and political process as a way to contribute to your country and nationals ?
A : As a Girl Guide from age 12 to about 16 , I was introduced to the foundational practice of “ Doing good ” to and for others . On finishing high school , I volunteered as a Guider to help lead and train younger Girl Guides . Christian principles of service were also part of my early formation from childhood . So , my social and political involvement were deeply rooted in the teachings and practices of my Christian upbringing . For me , Christianity is much more than the rituals of attending church . More importantly , it is about practice – the practice continually trying to live my life , guided by those principles .
